Soldier's Sexual Assault Charges Dropped

Mr. Cassara represented an Army officer who was accused of raping his ex-girlfriend, also an Army officer. The case proceeded to an Article 32 hearing at Fort Gordon, GA. Mr. Cassara decided to challenge the case at this preliminary hearing, instead of waiting for the court-martial. While the Hearing Officer stated that there was probable cause to believe a crime had been committed, Mr. Cassara convinced the government that the charges would not withstand a court-martial. As a result, the charge was dropped, the officer was allowed to finish the PEB process and medically retire.
